COVID-19 Business Assistance Package Summary

With the increasing number of COVID-19 cases and implementation of Level 1 and Level 2 Public Health and Social Measures, WA government has announced new COVID-19 Business Assistance Packages for the businesses adversely affected thereof.

  At present there are mainly three Business Assistance Packages available. A quick summary is as below:

  Small Business Assistance Grant – December 2021

  Available to small businesses operating within the hospitality sector, the music and events industry or creative and performing arts sector who were directly impacted by the Chief        Health Officer’s COVID Restrictions from 23 December 2021 to 4 January 2022. Applications are now open and closes on the 31st of March 2022.

 

 Small Business Rental Relief Package (part of Level 1 COVID-19 Business Assistance Package)

 Tenant Rent Relief Scheme (*Applications are open now for this)

  Small Business tenants can apply for rental relief grants of $3,000.

 Eligibility Criteria:   

 Have an annual turnover of more than $50,000.

  • Have a valid and active Australian Business Number (ABN).
  • Have an Australia-wide payroll of less than $4 million.
  • Have a tenanted premises located in WA.
  • Be able to demo to demonstrate a 30 percent reduction in revenue for any four-week consecutive time frame between 1 January 2022 to 30 April 2022, compared to the equivalent period in 2021. An alternative period in 2021 may be used if the business did not operate at that time or it provides an inaccurate representation of the business’ financial situation.

  Landlord Rent Relief Incentive

  Landlords who voluntarily match the Government’s Tenant Rent Relief payments of $3,000 per tenant will be eligible for an incentive payment of $1,500.

  Eligibility Criteria:

 Landlords have provided rent relief of $3,000 to small business tenants that: 

 experience a 30 percent reduction in revenue for any four-week consecutive time frame between 1 January 2022 to 30 April 2022, compared to the equivalent period in 2021.

  • Have a valid and active Australian Business Number (ABN).
  • Have an Australia-wide payroll of less than $4 million.
  • Have a tenanted premises located in WA.

  Alfresco support package

  Small businesses in the hospitality sector may be eligible for up to $5,000 reimbursement of eligible costs associated with creating and expanding an alfresco area to meet the requirements of public health and social measures.

 

 Small Business Hardship Grants Program (Part of level 2 COVID-10 Business Assistance Package)

  *Application opens from 17 March 2022.

  Eligibility Criteria:

  Have a valid and active Australian Business Number (ABN).  

  • Have an Australia-wide payroll of less than $4 million.
  • Be able to demonstrate a 50 percent reduction in revenue for any two-week consecutive period between 1 January 2022 to 30 April 2022, compared to the equivalent period in 2021. An alternative period in 2021 may be used if the business did not operate at that time or it provides an inaccurate representation of the business’ financial situation.
  • Open to all eligible businesses that meet the criteria – including the hospitality, arts and events industries.

  Payments to eligible businesses will be according to business size: 

  • Sole traders (non-employing businesses): $3,000
  • Micro businesses (1- 5 employees): $7,500
  • Small businesses (6-19 employees): $20,000
  • Medium sized businesses (employing 20 people or more): $50,000
